Nominate a Business for the 2015-16 Small Business BC Awards

Are you a business owner with an amazing story to tell? Or know a small business that you think deserves to be recognized in your community? Get them noticed by nominating them in any of 10 different award categories for the 13th Annual Small Business BC Awards between October 1 to November 30, 2015.

This year, Small Business BC is launching the Best Apprentice Training Award, which honours small businesses leading skilled trades training and development. It joins our current awards:

Why Nominate

The Small Business BC Awards are free to enter and a great opportunity gain valuable PR. If you’re shortlisted, the opportunity for media exposure is huge, and you will get business education and support throughout the competition.

There are great prizes too. Each winner will receive the Premier’s Prize of $1,500 cash and a one-year All-Access pass to Small Business BC education resources and experts.

How to Nominate

It’s easy to nominate your own business or one that you love.  All you have to do is complete a short online form asking for the company name, location, website and a brief description of why theydeserve to win.

Once a nomination has been received, the Small Business BC team authenticates, reviews and  publishes the nomination. Businesses nominated through third parties will be contacted for their approval to participate.

What Happens After the Nomination?

Once the nomination is published on the Small Business BC Awards site, it’s time to collect votes. Start bragging about it with your clients, contacts, friends and family. Create a campaign on social media using the hashtag #SBBCAwards, email your network, tell the media or do whatever you need to do to get the word out there to start collecting votes. Let people know why you’re proud of your business and why they should support you.

Live in rural BC and not sure how you’ll be able to compete with businesses in the Lower Mainland? Not to worry. All votes are normalized against British Columbia Regional District Population Figures make sure everyone has an equal chance to win.

The Top 10 businesses in each category will be announced December 12, 2015 and will complete an application form so that the judges can learn more about them. After, the Small Business BC Awards panel will determine the Top 5 nominees, who will then pitch their business in a Dragons’ Den-style presentation.

When Will the Winners Be Announced?

The winners of the 13th Annual Small Business BC Awards will be announced on February 25, 2016 at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver in front of 500 small business owners, industry leaders and government officials.
