Celebrate Small Business Week at SBBC

Each October, Small Business Week pays tribute to the entrepreneurs who contribute so much to our communities. They provide well paying, local jobs within our towns and cities, they bring energy, vibrancy and uniqueness to our streets, and they form the backbone of our provincial economy.

While Small Business Week 2020 has come and gone, Small Business BC provides resources and supports to empower our entrepreneurial community year-round. Below, you’ll find some of the key resources we offer.

Stay tuned for details on Small Business Week 2021 and how we’ll be celebrating at Small Business BC.

Small Business Stories

Popov Leather

Like many before him, Ryan Popov’s business started as a hobby. He created the type of leather wallet he’d like to buy, then listed it online out of curiosity. A few years later, he’s running a thriving leather goods business from beautiful Nelson, BC. We caught up with Ryan to get the story behind Popov Leather.

Skwálwen Botanicals

Leigh Joseph is a member of the Squamish First Nation. As an ethnobotanist, researcher and community activist, her aim is to contribute to the cultural knowledge renewal in connection to Indigenous plant foods and medicines. We caught up with Leigh to get the lowdown on this unique and fascinating business.

We respectfully acknowledge our place of work is within the ancestral, traditional and unceded territories of the Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ilwətaʔɬ/sel̓ílwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and that we serve the Peoples of the many Nations throughout British Columbia.
